Question: How did you and the Ri team create the 3D protein image that appeared above the table? Presumably clever camera work, but how? Fab lecture, thank you :) Jo, aged 43 and three quarters.

  The data came from a database of all proteins called the Protein Data Bank. This was manipulated using a motion detector in a custom-made software which is how Alison controlled it. The image you saw on TV was actually added in production – in the live lecture we just saw it on the big projection screen on the wall.
